Buying Italian Leather Furniture

One of the best ways to make all of your friends jealous is to fill your home with beautiful Italian leather furniture. Leather furniture might be made all around the world, but none is held in such high regard as Italian leather furniture. Why is the Italian furniture so highly praised? There are a number of reasons. Italian leather is really comfortable and easy to take care of. It is treated so that it is highly resistant to staining and also to extremes of temperature both hot and cold. All leather contains natural oils that will dry out over time, which makes the leather prone to going dry and cracking. For this reason it is necessary to treat the leather to bring back these oils. Because Italian leather is more resistant to heat it takes quite a bit longer for these oils to fade away, meaning less upkeep is needed.

Italian leather also brings out all of the great features of the wood it is coupled with. It goes best with darker woods, but it can also look great when used with lighter colored woods too. If a piece of furniture has been made using Italian leather you can be sure that it has been made using only the highest quality woods and the best craftsmen have made it. Every piece of Italian leather furniture must pass a strict quality test before it is passed on to the customer, so they only get the best. This furniture is not made in a factory, it is handmade and hand crafted.

The only down side to getting this quality is that you will have to pay top dollar for it. This means that you are going to have to pay substantially more than you would pay for fabric furniture and probably twice as much as you would pay for other lesser leather products. If you can afford it, it will be a good buy, as if it is well looked after it can last for generations.

Caring for Leather Arm Chairs

Leather armchairs have been a favoured piece of furniture for a number of years. Since the Victorian times men have enjoyed a glass of port and a cigar while perched on their armchair, in the company of their friends. Think back to the program "Masterpiece Theatre" when Alastair Cook would appear in his leather armchair. The armchair has even become a symbol of luxury in our culture. Today leather armchairs are available in a wide range of shapes and colors. Modern styles a much sleeker and casual than what we used as armchairs in the past.

As durable as leather is, it will still need some care and attention. It is prone to crack and fade if it is exposed to sunlight for too long. By keeping you leather furniture cleaned and conditioned it will look its best for longer. There are hundreds of products available that have been made specifically for cleaning and conditioning leather products. Some manufacturers will have their own suggestions for caring for their armchairs, so it would be best to have a look at the owners book before using any other products, also many leather items these days come specially coated to protect from stains and spills. If you do decide to use other care products it is suggested that you try them out on an inconspicuous area before you go over the whole chair. To remove small stains you can use a regular art eraser. If you need some extra cleaning power you can use soapy water and a clean, damp cloth. After that use a clean dry cloth to take away any extra water and buff to a shine. Remember to dust and vacuum your arm chair regularly to keep it clean of all loose dirt, dust and debris. If you care for your armchairs correctly they will last you for a long time.
