When you have a new baby it is fun to buy new things for them. An excuse to buy things which you would never buy for yourself! All those cute baby clothes, some of them extraordinarily well made and yet a fraction of the cost of the clothes that women can buy. The fabric use is of course much less in the baby clothes, and doesn’t that make them adorable. Organic fibers are grown using no chemicals whatsoever, which can make it more labor intensive to grow and this may be reflected in the cost, but you will probably find that you can get organic clothing for less than the cost of fancy designer clothing. It may even be available from a local department store as organics become more popular.

While you are thinking about organic clothes it is worth a mention to talk about organic cloth nappies. The simplest being organic terry nappies, these are the best for your baby in terms of comfort (think of how awful it must feel to wear paper and plastic pants - disposables - all day every day for years!) and in gentleness - again, no chemicals.

Because organic terries are coming in contact with the baby’s waste, it is a good thing that there are no residual chemicals in there to mix with the moisture and become reactivated. Organic terry nappies and organic baby clothes are not a big outlay and your baby’s health and the future of the environment will thank you for it.
